If you’re planning to attend EMC World 2013 May 6th-9th at the Venetian, Las Vegas, and you’re interested in FC, FCoE, iSCSI or Network Virtualization, please consider attending at least one of the following sessions:
Storage Area Networking: SAN Technology Update & Best Practice Deep Dive for FC, FCoE, & iSCSI SANs
Days and times: Monday 1:00pm and Thursday 11:30am
Presenter: Erik Smith
Overview: Based on the questions we’ve been receiving over the past few months, I decided to focus on three topics this year:
- An overview of what’s changed in the past 6
months. - A technical review of the most important EMC SAN
best practices; and - The impact IaaS may have on the SAN and what you
can do to prepare.
Birds-of-a-Feather: Storage Networking & Network Virtualization
Day and time: Wednesday 1:00pm
Presenters: Doug Fierro and Erik Smith
Overview: The Birds-of-a-feather sessions are your chance to provide feedback on EMC’s current initiatives and help us make sure we’re focused on what matters to you. This will be the fifth year that we’ve held a Storage Networking BoF and I can tell you from firsthand experience that we act
on the information we gather during these sessions. If you have an “Axe to grind” (related to the
SAN space), come to this session and let us have it! BTW, yes I’ll be providing a TDZ demo during this session.
Converged Data Center: FCoE, iSCSI and the Future of Storage Networking
Days and times: Wednesday 10:00am and Thursday 8:30am
Presenter: David Black, Ph.D. – EMC Distinguished Engineer
Overview: David will be providing an updated version of his extremely popular Storage
Networking session. He’ll be covering FC, FCoE, iSCSI and providing a brief overview of Network Virtualization. If you’ve never had the pleasure of seeing David present, I would highly recommend it. As Chair of the IETF STORM Working group (iSCSI), participant in the T11 working group (FC-BB-5) that defined FCoE and as a participant in the IETF nvo3 working group (Network virtualization), you will not be disappointed with David’s level of knowledge nor his ability to clearly articulate the key points that are relevant to you. BTW, Yes, I’m planning to attend as well (AGAIN).

Hi Brett, thanks for asking! Yes, I'll be at EMC World this year and I'll be talking about TDZ during the "Future of Storage Networking" Birds of a Feather session on Wednesday. We won't be making any TDZ support announcements (this year) but will be describing an interesting use case that involves OpenStack. I'm still trying to get a group of Brocade and Cisco customers to help me get this across the finish line and released as a supported feature. The more people that show up this year and ask for it the more likely it is to happen..
Will you be attending EMC World this year?

Yup, I'll be going. I've got your BoaF session on my calendar (Tuesday, according to the session catalog). Are Cisco and Brocade on board?

Erik, will you be presenting at EMC World 2014? I'd love to get an update on Target Driven Zoning.
